    GoBright Room Sensor Planning and Setup


    The key to a successful deployment of GoBright Room sensor technology is in the planning and understanding of the size and layout of the room.

     

    Why use Room sensors?

    • Generate occupancy data to review in analytics reports
    • Automate check-in of a room space (configurable)
    • Automate check out of a room space (configurable)

     

    The Solution

    3 components form the basis of the solution:

    The Gateway - Connected to the network

    The RF Antenna - Connected to the Gateway through a USB Male to Mini USB connector

    The Room sensor - Powered by 3x AAA batteries.

     

     

    The Gateway is the link between the corporate network and the GoBright devices. This works over a Zigbee network to avoid interference with existing WiFi systems. If you haven't set a Gateway up on the Network this is the first requirement. Please read the document - Setting up a Gateway.

    The RF Antenna connects directly to the Gateway via a mini USB connection (Black cable) and will automatically pick up the Occupancy sensor.

    The Occupancy sensor requires 3xAAA batteries. The remaining power of the batteries will be displayed in the GoBright portal. 

    The battery level status of the Room sensor is monitored through the GoBright Portal under Settings>Devices>Sensors

    Planning

     

    Distance between the sensor and the gateway should be a minimum of 2m and a recommended maximum of 25m, this later figure is dependent on walls and other obstacles which could affect the reception distance.

    PIR room sensors should be positioned on the ceiling of the room, covering space where users are likely to be positioned. For most small/medium spaces, this will be in the centre of the room, over the meeting room table. For larger spaces, multiple sensors can be set up across the room to ensure detection across the entire space.

    Setting up the Occupancy sensor

    Login to your administrator account on the GoBright Portal. Click Settings>Devices>Sensors>Add

    Select the room you want the sensor to be in by typing in the Type to search box e.g Booth 1. The room needs to be created first for the option to appear. Select Type as RF and Device as Occupancy sensor. The Unique ID of the sensor is printed on the Occupancy sensor.

    Save the sensor settings.

    The status of the Occupancy sensor will now be visible as an active sensor.


    How does the PIR Room sensor work?

    The PIR sensor detects occupation in real time and feeds this information back to the GoBright portal. This data is then used in reporting, but can optionally be used to trigger actions such as releasing a room if the participants fail to show, or ending a meeting automatically after a present period if users leave the room without formally ending the booking. 

    There are configuration options within the GoBright portal to enable/disable check in or check out within the portal. These can be found in relevant room profile (Settings > Meet > Profiles).
